Pridelands - Palandasya Border
Chioh - King of the Palandasya
Tunu - Palandasya Cub
Ahadi - King of the Pridelands
There is a walking shadow heading towards the border of Palandasya and Pridelands. On his back is Tunu, still being all angry and depressed that she was this morning. The two of them had been walking since early this morning, and Chioh was silent as one with his voice would be. He stopped, and rose his head up to look around. No other lions that he can see. With a mumble under his breathe, he continues into the Pridelands.
Tunu has been silent as well. Her small claws dig lightly into her uncle's mane as she rides along, the trip made much faster without her having to lag behind on short, cubby legs. Her ears lay back, and her brows are twisted in a melancholic fashion. No, no words. Even asking if they're there yet would be difficult.
In the distance, emerging from the lip of the valley, a lone figure comes into sight. It is Ahadi, and as he stands against the stark blue of the afternoon sky, he makes for a magnificent sight with his gold fur and rich, dark mane. He doesn't seem to see them, but rather is taking his time to survey his surroundings and appreciate the wind on his face.
Having this black fur isn't fun right now in the late afternoon sun, Chioh is extremely hot and he's panting like mad. He looks ahead, spotting a lion in the distance, and from the looks of things, a rather big lion. "Great," mutters Chioh as he continues to trudge on. He promised Sabiri that he would help Tunu, and help Tunu he will.
Tunu's ears prick forward at Chioh's soft expulsion of sound. She scoots up onto his neck to look between his ears at the horizon, eyes widening at the sight of the large male. "Who's that?" she asks in a quiet voice, so that only her uncle can hear her. Any other day, she'd chew on one of those ears. But not today.
Ahadi seems to be about to turn and head back into the valley when the wind shifts direction and he catches the scent of lion. He looks about more intently, scrutinizing the landscape. When at last his attention locks on Chioh, his heart skips a beat. Lion he may smell, but this isn't a lion; it can't be. Black fur, red eyes? This can be nothing other than the foul presence which placed the curse on Aso'Caed and concerned the shaman, Rafiki, so. The first emotion that tears through Ahadi is fear. Heart-clenching, breath-stopping, panic-inducing fear. But then he thinks of those he loves, those he protects, those he would gladly fight a thousand demons to keep safe and happy. He stands tall, staring down Chioh, and watching his approach. Maybe it only preys on those weak-of-heart. If so, he certainly won't make himself available as a victim.
Chioh stops as he mutters, "Nothing, Tunu. Don't move." He looks over at the lion, then he remembers the color of his eyes. That nice demonic red that Olumide gave him and he growls to himself. He continues to walk towards the valley, not paying any attention to the lion staring down at him. He did not come for a fight, he just wants this curse lifted. To see that he is a lion, do something else then just stare as Chioh gets close to you.
Tunu's ears slick back again, but she doesn't tear her blue-green gaze from Ahadi. She gulps, and then shifts her head to nose at Chioh's ear. "Is he the -.. the wind-voice?"
When Ahadi has judged Chioh is close enough to hear, he tightens his mouth into a grim line for a moment, chosing his words, and speaks. "I do not know who are what you are," he calls across the distance, "But I assure you, if you come with the intent to harm, you are not welcome in my lands!"
Chioh stops wakling and he looks over at Ahadi. He narrows his gaze as he then mutters to Tunu on his head, "No. He's not the wind-voice. He's another lion." He clears his throat, knowing that his voice is /not/ going to make this easy, but he gives it a shot anyway. "I am one of the Kings of the Palandasya pride, I have been cursed by two of the evil ghosts that roam the savannah. I was told to come here, to get this curse removed. I have no intentions of harming anything." Well, at least nothing living. His voice, still that of a raspy demonic one, echos greatly as he speaks. This is not going to end well.
Tunu nods firmly, and digs her claws in a little more into Chioh's mane as she straightens out her front legs, standing a little more. "Hey!" she calls out. "Unc-... Kin-... Chioh ain't doin' nuthin bad! It was the wind-voice!"
The voice of this creature sends chills down the Prideland King's spine, and he's about to mentally reject Chioh's explanation when the little cub speaks up as best she can. Perhaps, then, there is some truth to the logic... but that would mean-! A dark feeling of foreboding touches Ahadi's thoughts. The King of Mwenyezi, and the King of Palandasya... surely he, as King of the Pridelands, will be the next to suffer at the maw of this wicked thing that has been spreading curses. "Come, then," he says, just as mistrusting of Chioh as he was of Aso'Caed, if not more so, "I am Ahadi, King of these lands. Let us speak as we go. Describe this cursing to me, and how exactly it happened."
Chioh nods to the king, thanking Tunu for she might have saved his fur with her explaination. "Thank you, Tunu." The Palandasya Co-king looks at the other king and says, "The curse that was set upon me was actually two curses. The first one was by a ghost who told me to exile one of my pride members. And with you being a king as well, I'm sure you can't exile one of your pridemates on the spot, so naturally I declined. After I declined, the ghost cursed me with the fur the color of the moonless night." He sighs a bit as he looks up at Tunu and says, "My neice, Tunu, was cursed as well. Though I don't know the extent of her's." He looks at Ahadi again and says, "Then the ghost of Olumide, the previous king of the Palandasay. The king my brother and I overthrew. He came to me and cursed me with this voice and these eyes." He clears his throat, god he hates this voice.
Tunu nods to confirm her uncle's story, then looks down at the top of his head. "Two wind voices?" she asks, perplexed. She didn't know they had received a second visit, by a different king. The cub looks back at he native king, brows furrowing upward in worry. "We made them mad," she explains.
"I'm sure you must have," he says with a grimace. "Not too long ago, I received another visitor to my lands who was cursed and told to go to the Valley of the Great Kings. He and his entourage are currently there- I was just checking up on them. I presume this is where the two of you were headed?" As he speaks, Ahadi turns and makes for the opening to the valley. He moves at a gentle pace, so as not to get too far ahead of Chioh. He wants to be aware of every breath he takes, every shift of his muscle. He doesn't want to get attacked while his back is turned.
Chioh nods as he says, "Yes. The ghosts told us to go there." At the mention of another cursed, Chioh's ears perk up and he hms to himself. He walks with a posture that shows that he isn't agressive or intent on harming anyone. But that doesn't really help since his color and eyes kinda negate that posture effect.
Tunu lays back down on Chioh's back and sighs heavily. She's ready for this to be over, yes. Ready to talk properly again. "Do we have to -.. say so-.. apolo-.." then the cub growls and burries her face in her uncle's dark mane.
Ahadi glances over his shoulder at Tunu, baffled by her apparent speech impediment. She doesn't seem to be changed physically, as her uncle was, so perhaps this is one of the effects of the curse that took its toll on the cub? He suddenly regrets having been so distant with Aso'Caed: it would have been a good idea to find out what manner of curse -he- is suffering from. "The Valley is just this way. Follow me," and then he is gone down into the place that has become important to so many animals in so short a time.
