In the beginning, there was Nsia--King of the Laghai. As a ruler, he was tyrannical, bordering on mad, and only became worse and worse as time progressed. In the fifth year of his reign, Nsia proclaimed himself a divinity, on an equal footing with the kings-among-the-stars. He sequestered all the lionesses of the pride in his private chambers one at a time for his personal pleasure, whenever he pleased. He even took the name Olumide, which means "God arrives," as a greater proclamation of his own divine glory.
Finally, his frightened subjects grew weary of his tempestuous whims and secretly sent an offer to two lions--brothers Chioh and Hukumu--to come and overthrow him. They would never have been able to do it alone, as Olumide was no weakling, but together, they managed to defeat and kill him, much to the gratitude and relief of the pride, who accepted the victors as the new kings- even renaming the pride to "Palandasya" to wipe away the blemish of the dead king.
Years passed and Palandasya prospered, growing ripe and green under the joint rule of Chioh and Hukumu. They each took Queens who sired them two strong heirs to ensure that the royal line would continue when they grew grey and their bodies failed them. But this was not enough for Hukumu. He divided the lionesses into two groups--his huntresses and his concubines, forming a small but formidable harem of exotic beauties for his personal pleasure. Although none of his mates were unwilling, no lion could deny the similarities between the old King and the new.
They kept quiet. Hukumu, looking to expand his harem, has sent word across Africa by bird, calling upon King and vagabond alike to send him the most exquisite lionesses that their lands have to offer. But of all the lionesses brought to Palandasya, only four will be selected to join the Royal Harem. The creatures responsible for bringing Hukumu is picks will each be rewarded with one request that the King, honour-bound, is required to fulfill.
The quest has begun.
OOC: Hukumu can be a bit of a boor, but his concubines are all treated very well. After all, there’s a reason they call it the Royal Harem. As well as not being required to hunt, the concubines are attended by the pride’s servants--a colony of Capuchin monkeys that caters to their every whim. They get their own den in the Kopje, apart from the huntresses and guards who defend and provide for the pride. In a word, they’re spoiled. Rotten.
In order for this to work, we’re in need of lionesses who are either looking to join the Royal Harem, or who are spirited away from the homes unwillingly by creatures who want to claim Hukumu’s reward. There are literally hundreds of ways to get involved in this TP. Maybe your character is a princess of another pride and her father has just told her that she is going to be presented to the King of a foreign kingdom. Or maybe, she’s been kidnapped for the same reason! Perhaps your character is an exile whose family is marked for death, and she decides to offer herself to Hukumu in exchange for their protection. More sinister motives are, of course, welcome.
If you don’t play a lioness, that’s cool. Remember, there’s a reward for bringing Hukumu his four chosen concubines--and somebody’s gotta claim it.
