Alright, new here, as the title suggests, and I have a proposal. This RPG looks pretty nifty so far, but I have yet to make a character. I don't want to bumble around uselessly... so, here's my idea. Does anyone need a character to play off of? i.e. mother, mate, villain, that lazy guy who makes creepy eyes at you whenever you pass by, etc. Or do you just need more characters of a certain species? I wanted to play a female hyena, but if there are too many I would happily settle for an elephant. Also, what kind of things are going on? Any struggles, tensions threatening to erupt, suspicions? Does anyone need a messenger, or a traitor? Just let me know - any species, age or gender. I need a purpose, so I'll be happy to oblige! P.S. Reposted because I accidentally posted it in the wrong thread the first time around *sheepish grin*

Excellent questions. I shall field this, but I hope I'm not the only one to answer your questions.
'Does anyone need a character to play off of?' Well, every group has a special somebody who is looking for mates... or is expecting cubs, or needs a father. Just browse the Character Requests to see what you can do.
'Or do you just need more characters of a certain species?' Oh *god* yes. The Graveyard is in desperate need of hyenas, due to a high degree of inactivity there. We also need leapords for Kiruuke. We don't need characters in places like Min'men or Pride Rock as far as I can tell. Your female hyena would be *quite* welcome.
'Also, what kind of things are going on?' Well, that's a question with hundreds of answers, because even between the major TPs, all our characters are involved in something or other. Our characters live like anyone would IRL. Agendas and motivations. Some characters are hungry, some are natural ladies-men. And some are evil murderers. You would have to ask specific characters that.
'Any struggles, tensions threatening to erupt, suspicions?' Always. For example: Though there are peace talks pending between Mwenyezi and Pride Rock, Mwenyezi is actually scheming to invade. Conflict.
'Does anyone need a messenger, or a traitor?' Well, typically, messengers are rapidly filled positions in the @groups. Seran, one of my alts, has become rather favored by King Ahadi. And I can't think of a place that can't have a traitor in their midst, such is the essence of conflict.
'any species, age or gender' Well, there's no limit or requirement for what character you can take. All we can do as fellow players is tell you where we could use some characters, or who would want one associated with their own. Be creative. I've become known myself for having characters who depart from the normal thinking of their peers: A pure-hearted hyena (Tosca), a pacifistic Mwenyezi cub (Uzuri), and a rather ambitious meerkat (Yaro).
MOST IMPORTANT is creativity and fun. That is the essense of RP.

Always room for more servals in the serval camp! (Though there really isn't a camp, exactly, but Kesh could use a player for a sibling) Leopards and cheetahs could use some bolstering, too, of course, but maybe that's just me

You're more than welcome to make a female hyena, too. We don't have many hyenas.

Thanks everyone I think I will be playing a female hyena, after all. I'll look around some more, then make my character. Hey, Kiniro! Your DA is what introduced me to this wonderful RPG (I'm Marstorm) I hope I'll be seeing you in the Outlands.

Actually, more lionesses at Pride Rock would not hurt.
