True; the Hyenas and Wild Dogs need players, but why quash a concept when there are folks willing to participate? If they don't want to play dogs or 'yenas, no point pushing them that direction. Especially if they'd rather play something else.
Everyone is here for RP, yes? Just because one or two groups aren't doing so good, folks shouldn't downplay another, whether it has potential or not. You never know what will take off and add to the MUCK.

You never know what will take off and add to the MUCK. That's a good theory, but it doesn't take into account the I'm-gonna-make-alts-for-every-group syndrome that stalled ER. Sunrise, too, has a limited number of prides for a reason. If you have only three active dogs, only three active hyenas and only three active wolves, nobody's gonna get play. That's nine players, all looking for the same dynamic, who could be working together. Instead, nothing happens. What's the big difference between E. wolves and wild dogs, anyway?

Hm, I think I am going to hold off on making a E. wolf, at least until one of my alts is gone. I am going to remain strict on my six alt limit.
I don't think the wizzes are trying to be strict on the species people can apply for. They are just trying to encourage people who want a similar kind of animal to join a certain group that needs members. Anyone can apply for an E. Wolf, but they may not find as much RP. If they don't have their hearts set EXACTLY on a E. Wolf, but want a dog character, they can make a Wild Dog instead.
